Constructed of gilded zink, obverse depicting shield with central Edelweiss (representing Heer Gebirgsjger), propeller (representing the Luftwaffe), and anchor (representing the Kriegsmarine), underneath date of 1940, underneath inscription of NARVIK, topped by a Wehrmacht style German national eagle clutching a wreathed swastika, with four reverse attachment prongs securing the shield to a black wool backer, unmarked,
