A zink medal, the centre obverse presents the letter B for Bernhard, on a cross patte, with an outer ring of dense oak leaves, the reverse presents the Saxony coat of arms, on the centre of the cross, surrounded by a ring inscribed FR VERDIENST (FOR MERIT) IM KRIEGE (IN WAR) 1914 15, measuring 39. 26 mm in diameter, on loop for suspension from period original combat
